We have today announced the appointment of Ian Perry as our new company Chair. The appointment follows our recent securing of $4.5 million in its Series A funding round with Octopus Ventures, paving the way for our continued growth and expansion.

Ian has over 35 years experience in the technology industry, including sales, operations, general management and at board level, spanning Saas, direct to enterprise, channel and consumer business models.

The last 18 years have been spent at board level, serving as Chairman, Non-Executive Director, independent consultant and angel investor in a variety of European and US technology businesses. For the past eight years he has also  served as a Venture Partner at Octopus Investments supporting their portfolio of over 90 companies.

Prior to his career in Venture Capital and board advisory, Ian worked in senior leadership positions for high growth US West coast technology businesses including Sybase and Portal Software, experiencing three successful NASDAQ IPOs.

“With Zapnito, companies can now harness the collective intelligence of their customers in network communities and that delivers huge value,” said Ian. “I’m really looking forward to working with Charles and Jon to put Zapnito on the map.”

Charles Thiede, co-founder and CEO of Zapnito, said: “We’re very excited to introduce Ian as our new Chair. Ian has been advising us for a while and we are already benefiting from his broad experience and looking forward to working with him to drive our business forward.”

Charles Thiede

CEO and Co-Founder, Zapnito Ltd.

My background is in technology, professional services and digital media. I co-founded Zapnito due to a number of related observations from my time in these sectors: 1) the social web is creating a huge amount of noise 2) expertise that brands have built up over decades is being drowned out and hidden from those that need it 3) these brands are therefore losing their audience to often undeserving and unhelpful sources, and 4) people are finding it harder to access the expertise that they truly value. I therefore decided to create Zapnito, a white-label platform to help trusted brands reclaim their audiences via expert-driven knowledge networks.
