Defining fake news
'Fake news' means different things to different people at different times but we all see it as a terrible problem for the health of democracy. OECD’s The Forum Network considers the way this phrase makes us feel and how information distributors from across the cultural landscape approach the issue.

What happened in July?
There’s nothing better than an informative roundup and JP Morgan Portfolio Manager, Callum Abbot supplies just that on The UK Edge every month. July was a fantastic month for sun and sports fans but here Callum looks at what happened in British politics and at the international market fluctuations that impacted the UK.

Get to know the experts
Click through to the Nature Eco Evo badge on the Nature Ecology & Evolution Community and you’ll find a number of relevant global issues to get your teeth stuck into. Read the backstories explaining how their respective authors came to pen their work. This month’s content considers climate change, scientific collaboration and rapid evolution in nature.

No limit to the potential of AI
As Springer Nature’s Grand Challenges reports, a robot called Pluribus has beaten top human professionals at poker, which is the first time that an artificial-intelligence programme has beaten elite human players at a game with more than two players. According to its creator, this lays the foundation for future AIs to tackle significant real-world problems such as automated negotiations, fraud detection and self-driving cars.

Expert insights on pitching
Mines and Money London speaker, Marcel De Groot gives his open impression of what a good pitch looks like. Get a perspective on the mining industry while learning new presentation skills, here on the Mining Beacon community.
