The Role 

Zapnito is looking for a Senior Data Warehouse Engineer to join the team.   The role is to be primarily focused on greenfield data warehouse development to further build and extend our data analytics and reporting architecture, along with implementing ETL and data orchestration flows.

A secondary focus of the role is to provide an opinionated perspective of our overall transactional and analytics database design, identifying and optimizing areas for improvement.

Within the role you will enable data-driven decision making by collecting, transforming, and publishing data. You should be able to design, build, operationalize, secure, and monitor data processing systems with an emphasis on security and compliance; scalability and efficiency; reliability, flexibility and reusability. 

Reporting into the VP of Engineering, and alongside our Product Manager, you will work closely with the CTO and Director of Client Operations to ensure that our suite of analytics and KPI reporting tools meet both our product requirements as well as internal operational reporting requirements.    

Experience & skills

  • Certified GCP Data Engineer (https://cloud.google.com/certification/data-engineer)
  • 3 years minimum experience as a data warehouse engineer
  • 2 years minimum experiences with Google BigQuery
  • 2 years minimum experience working as a database developer on a multi-tenant SaaS platform
  • Comfortable, productive and self-motivated working in a remote organisation
  • Strong demonstrated understanding and passion for analytics and data modelling for both transactional and analytical environments
  • Strong and demonstrable experience scaling an Enterprise B2B SaaS database architecture
  • Experience with modern dashboarding tools such as Looker or Tableau
  • Some experience of deploying and training machine learning models is desirable
  • Familiarity and experience with with Segment is desirable
  • University degree in computer science

Key areas of focus

  • Greenfield data warehouse design and implementation on Google BigQuery
  • Segment design and implementation 
  • Ownership of our transactional database, design review and incremental improvements
  • Design and implement a standardised set of customer KPI reports
  • Design and implement a standardised set of internal operational KPI reports
  • Support the CTO in defining and delivering the data analytics roadmap
  • Conduct knowledge sharing on data warehousing through pairing, collaboration and coaching others across the engineering team.
