Conversation notifications

We've introduced a new notification email so that you'll know when conversations are happening inside rooms.

Conversations inside rooms are a great way to engage certain members of your community around a specific topic. It allows users to speak to and help each other, fostering a true sense of community. However, we've had a couple of questions recently about the visibility of these conversations, so we've come up with a solution.

Previously it could be hard to get the conversations started because unless you happened to be in the room at the time, there wasn't an easy way to find out they were happening. We have just released an update that means you'll receive an email notification when someone starts a new conversation inside a room. There are a couple of different layers and options inside this notification setting, so that you don't get peppered with lots of emails.

By default we have turned on all notifications for private room conversations and notifications for open rooms are off by default. As the admin you can change the notification options per room by going to settings > rooms > edit and you'll see thes buttons;

These conversation notifications for all room members will only be triggered for newly started conversations, and notifications for replies will only go out to the people involved in the conversation. 

You (the admin) can choose which rooms trigger conversation notifications, as above, but users can choose to opt out of these emails in their notification preferences. They can do this be going to their avatar in the top right corner > account settings > notification settings > conversation settings.
