Beyond communities (two years later)

Zapnito exists to share learning and experiences, connect experts and improve knowledge across the enterprise. The Zapnito platform has changed a lot over the past couple of years, which is why I thought it was a good time to revisit Beyond Communities.

Two years ago I wrote ‘Beyond Communities’ which looked at how Zapnito could deliver business value beyond creating a highly engaged online community. 

At its core, Zapnito exists to share learning and experiences, connect experts and improve knowledge across the enterprise. The Zapnito platform has changed a lot over the past couple of years, which is why I thought it was a good time to revisit Beyond Communities.

Expert space

Zapnito is more than a community platform because of the value our customers have received from it. They find us business-critical, not just a nice-to-have. The platform sits at the intersection of community and content, notably expert-driven content. So, as well as discussions and event sharing, Zapnito provides a space for best practice, practical tip and inspiration. We’re all about content, expertise sharing and online learning. Not just chit chat like with our competitors

We’ve also been investing heavily in our Video Panel components which are helping to drive real-time access to experts with on-demand video delivery involving up to 15 experts at a time. 

The heart of Zapnito

Experts are the heart of Zapnito’s vision, bringing together trusted brands and experts to deliver value to community members. Creating a virtuous circle because a member can be an expert, a brand ambassador can become an industry influencer. And the brand itself and its partners can deliver tremendous value through leveraging their expertise. 

Through this approach, Zapnito has saved its customers sometimes 90% of the costs of developing something similar in-house. Our platform has also helped companies get to market in 10% of the time of an in-house option. Plus, many customers are driving direct and indirect revenue streams from their communities. 

Knowledge Expert Networks

Sharing expertise, is most powerful and relevant to all business strategies. Communities are useful, yes, but Knowledge Expert Networks takes this a leap further.

Which is why Zapnito lives and breathes this ethos - much in the same vein as TedTalks and Masterclasses. Areas where knowledge can be built and shared, with members made better through engaging with it. It all hinges on experts and making their knowledge accessible to members.

My background is in technology, professional services and digital media. I co-founded Zapnito due to a number of related observations from my time in these sectors: 1) the social web is creating a huge amount of noise 2) expertise that brands have built up over decades is being drowned out and hidden from those that need it 3) these brands are therefore losing their audience to often undeserving and unhelpful sources, and 4) people are finding it harder to access the expertise that they truly value. I therefore decided to create Zapnito, a white-label platform to help trusted brands reclaim their audiences via expert-driven knowledge networks.
